Jared Jewlers commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSwHxfJhgaIIn this commercial it is implied that the woman with the ring is really excited about the fact that her fiance proposed to her with a ring that was from Jared. The commercial speaks to both men and women saying that if you get your engagement ring from Jared, you too can either be as happy as the woman in the commercial or your girlfriend will be just as happy. It's kind of ridiculous to say that where your ring was purchased from will determine the level of satisfaction and excitement you will have about your engagement.
Joe's Crab Shack commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AWsrdmoqj20
In this commercial one of the men at the table keeps telling the girl next to him to "take your top off". He really means for her to take the top of her bowl of food off but it is insinuated that he means for her to take her shirt off. This commercial shows that sexual innuendos are very effective at getting viewer's attention.
In the Jared commercial, they use this tactic to pull in customers because they know that people want their proposal to be perfect. I also noticed that they left prices out of the commercial, becasue they know that making them think about money is the opposite of love. It seems that just about all commercials these days try to use love or sex in them; it must be working well. I feel they are trying hard here to mainly get men's attention because i feel a crab shack is more likely to have men there.
ReplyDeleteEven though they are very "class" oriented, I've kind of always been a fan of the Jared commercials. I always find something from them interesting. I know that it doesn't matter where you purchase your ring from, but you're right these are very oriented to make someone think that if they don't buy their ring from Jared then they won't be happy. I think that these show a lot of the materialistic view that our culture has put on to love.
