Nate Wolff Individual Post of Question 1
After going back to the website I was able to look at the visual images on the sides of the page and make the implicit explicit. As a pop-up add on the video appeared, I was able to notice that it was promoting a new artist advertising for her knew album. The album is self-titled, Jessie J. I was able to infer that The Black Eyed Peas where showing "the love" for Jessie J. Similarly, the advertising agency that added this video to YouTube had advertisements for another upcoming artist on the "Suggestions" side bar. This can also relate to the central message of this video due to the fact other artists are getting help from those already big in the industry. People are showing compassion for other people by helping them out in their career. Furthermore, the background of a portion of the page is all black. This could be the Black Eyed Peas discretely advertising for their band. Despite the lack of advertisements on this page, I was able to come up with two questions that the class could easily debate and discuss. First, what are five actions you have recently taken that have spread the word of love? Secondly, are the Black Eyed Peas showing love for other artists by advertising for them? Why or why not?

In response to your second question, I feel like the black eyed peas could be spreading their love for other artists through advertising. They are in direct competition with other artists, so promoting other artists would be from the good in their hearts. However, I do not believe that the advertisements on the sides are the BEPs decision, and rather to support Youtube or Vevo. This relates to coorporate greed, as they are trying to make money through advertisements. This relates to how they are too busy trying to make money instead of spreading love.
ReplyDeleteAnswering your second question, I feel that the Black Eyed Peas are generally showing love by promoting new artists while at the same time, they may not have been the final decision makers. We don't know what the intentions were, whether it be in support for the website or for the band. I liked your questions and how you incorporated the advertisements from the web page into the meaning behind the music video.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Black eyed peas trying to say about love is "love for whole world" As we can see the music video, we can see a lot of different race and kids with sad face. Also, lyrics explains poverty and wars about the world and care about "love", which is related to their song and video theme. This video have lot more meanings than song.
