Group 6 Question 5

In the article, "Metrosexuals Come Out", metrosexuality is seen as a trend that will only get larger. Seeing as the article was written in 2003, the trend is quite visible 8 years later. The article does not really teach the reader anything that they do not know regarding metrosexual men. We all know who they are and what they look like. They keep up to date on the trendiest clothes, spend a good amount of time beautifying themselves, and can keep up with the ladies' shopping habits. This is present all around us. From magazines such as GQ informing men on the latest styles to turning on the TV and seeing the guys from Jersey Shore with their infamous GTL.

Really, the only knew information that the article presented is the fact that "metrosexual" was coined as a satirical term, but has become widely accepted and largely known. Although it could make some people uncomfortable I can't see why. These men just care about how they look as much as the next high maintenance girl. Metro men are also comfortable with how they look and want to show it off as much as possible, clearly from how much time is spent preparing to go out.

  1. I completely agree with you. It kind of amazes me that it was written in 2003 but if it was written today I'm sure it would be completely different because metrosexuality has definitely come a long way since 2003. We have stores and magazines and it has most definitely become a way of living. Accepting metrosexual men into society is a great step to accepting all different people and what they believe in.

  2. metrosexuals is something individuals are proud of and that is fine i wouldn't want to go out with a guy who doesn't like keeping up with his looks. he might take long but I'm glad he will have confident in himself whenever we go out and that is good.

  3. I feel that metrosexuality is being pushed forward by society and it's need to make a big deal out of anything. That any mistake will be talked about and cause negative attention to that person. So this is amking people strive to be better and never be out of style or something like that.

  4. I definitely think that metro sexuality has come a long way in our society. i don't see why people are against this, if the men are happy and like what they are doing, just let them do it and worry about what you are doing. I think that accepting metro sexuality is a step in the right direction towards hopefully our society accepting homosexuality.

  5. I believe that a man who cares about how he looks is a proud and strong man. although, i cant say i agree with the "metrosexual" look, i believe that it shows that the men just want to be attractive and look good. it's just another way to attract whomever and if it works then how can anyone criticize or blame them?
